Dong Nai studies plan to relocate Central Psychiatric Hospital 2 to Bien Hoa city's outskirts

(ĐN) – The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Health and related departments, agencies, and localities to research and propose the relocation of Central Psychiatric Hospital 2 to the outskirts of Bien Hoa city.

In document No. 6539/UBND-KGVX dated May 27, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc assigned the Department of Health to urgently take the lead, together with the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Construction, Department of Finance, Bien Hoa City People's Committee, and related units, to review healthcare planning; advise and propose to the Provincial People's Committee to seek opinions from the Ministry of Health regarding the relocation of Central Psychiatric Hospital 2 to the outskirts of Bien Hoa city.

The work must be completed and submitted to the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee before June 3, 2025.

Central Psychiatric Hospital 2 (located on Nguyen Ai Quoc Street, Tan Phong Ward, Bien Hoa City), formerly known as Bien Hoa Asylum, was established in 1915. After several name changes, since 2003, the hospital has been named Central Psychiatric Hospital 2, directly under the Ministry of Health.

After 110 years of construction and development, the hospital is currently ranked 1st with 810 staff and a scale of 1.2 thousand inpatient beds.

On average, the hospital examines about 450 patients per day. Its main functions are medical examination and treatment, disease prevention, and rehabilitation for psychiatric patients at the highest level in the Southern region. At the same time, the hospital also participates in training psychiatric specialists, directing 32 provinces and cities in the Southern region, conducting scientific research, and managing and treating compulsory treatment subjects.
