As reported by Dong Nai Newspaper, on April 16, the patient had symptoms of fever at 39 degrees Celsius, headache, and nausea, so her family took her to Thong Nhat General Hospital for emergency treatment.
Previously, the patient was admitted to the hospital with high fever, severe fatigue, dry lips, and a dirty tongue. The patient had a history of chronic hepatitis B and diabetes. The patient had not been vaccinated against meningococcal disease. Test results showed that the patient was positive for Neisseria meningitidis group B.
Meningococcal meningitis is a dangerous acute infectious disease that progresses very quickly. The disease causes serious damage to the meninges and central nervous system and can directly threaten the patient's life if not detected and treated promptly. The disease often occurs suddenly with a series of symptoms such as severe headache, fever, nausea and vomiting, stiff neck, and red, purple, or dark brown spots.
