The vaccine used is Qdenga (produced in Germany), which was approved by the Ministry of Health in May 2024.
The Qdenga vaccine is effective against all 4 types of dengue virus that cause disease, with an efficacy of over 80% and a prevention rate of hospitalization of up to 90%.
The dengue vaccine schedule consists of 2 doses for 3 months each and can be administered simultaneously with various other vaccines depending on the type. Women are advised to complete the vaccination schedule preferably 3 months before and at least 1 month prior to pregnancy.
The price for the dengue vaccine at the center is 1,071,000 VND per dose.
Just in the first morning, over 50 residents came to receive the dengue vaccination at the center.
In Dong Nai, the dengue vaccine was first administered in September 2024 at the VNVC. However, due to vaccine supply issues, the provincial Center for Disease Control has only now received the vaccine and is implementing its administration for the residents.
Dengue fever occurs year-round but peaks during the rainy season. From the beginning of 2025 until now, the province has recorded nearly 2,100 cases of dengue fever, of which children under 15 account for nearly 52%, an increase of about 1,500 cases compared to the same period last year. Bien Hoa city is currently leading in dengue cases with over 450 cases.
