(ĐN)- As of July 27, Dong Nai had reported over 12,800 dengue fever cases, up more than 200% compared to the same period of last year, and 11 fatalities, including 2 children.
Of the total, more than 7,200 cases are children, accounting for 56 percent.
It is predicted that the number of new cases may rise in the coming time. To prevent it from spreading out, the health sector has been asked to keep a close watch on the developments of the disease.
Accordingly, attention will be paid to stepping up dissemination to raise public awareness of disease prevention and control, improve environmental sanitation, and spray chemicals to kill mosquito larvae.
Local people has been also urged to clear potential mosquito breeding sites around their homes and workplaces to help control the spread of the disease.
