COVID-19: New cases on December 7 reach 13,840

Vietnam recorded 13,840 cases of COVID-19 in 59 localities during 24 hours from 4pm December 6 to 4pm December 7, including 5 imported cases, according to the Ministry of Health.

Ho Chi Minh City continued to record the highest number of infections with 965, followed by Can Tho with 898 and Tay Ninh with 869.

The national caseload reached 1,337,523.

According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 7,019 patients nationwide are in serious conditions, with 770 requiring invasive ventilation and 15 on life support (ECMO).

On the day, the country saw 217 deaths from the disease. The death toll now hits 26,700.

A further 1,249 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,011,656.

By December 6, the country had injected over 128.67 million doses of vaccines to date, with more than 55.01 million people now fully inoculated.
