Viet Nam vaccinates over 1.8 million adolescents

As of November 22, over 1.8 million youngsters aged 12-17 have been vaccinated against COVID-19, representing 20 percent of the eligible population, according to the Ministry of Health.

Among the above figure, 4,300 have been fully vaccinated, reported the ministry.

As many as 22 localities are giving vaccines to adolescents including Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Tien Giang, Tay Ninh, Soc Trang, An Giang, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Binh Duong, Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu and Hau Giang. 

Viet Nam has received a total of 135 million doses, including 48.5 million doses of Sinopharm, 46.7 million doses of AstraZenca, 33.3 million doses of Pfizer and Moderna, and the rest of Abdala and Sputnik V.

The Southeast Asian nation has administered over 109 million doses of vaccines with 67 million people receiving the first jabs and 42 million people taking the second shots.

In 58 provinces and cities, over 70 percent of eligible population has been administered with at least one jab. Twenty-two provinces and cities achieved over 95 percent of vaccine coverage for adults including Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, HCMC, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Long An, Lam Dong, Can Tho, Ben Tre, Vinh Long, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Kien Giang, and Hau Giang./.
