The Ministry of Health confirmed 12,026 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, raising the national patient tally to 613,375.
 
 

The Ministry of Health confirmed 12,026 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, raising the national patient tally to 613,375.

Of the national caseload, 608,997 are domestic infections recorded in 62 cities and provinces since April 27 when the fourth COVID-19 wave hit Viet Nam.

Twelve out of the above localities have gone 14 days without a new community infection: Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Vinh Phuc, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, and Ha Nam.

The pandemic situation remains complicated in the southern region, in which Ho Chi Minh has been hit hardest with (298,029 cases) followed by Binh Duong (157,018), Dong Nai (34,816), Long An (28,159), and Tien Giang (12,205).

The same day, the ministry reported 11,116 recoveries, taking the total number of recovered cases to 374,578.

Among the current positive cases, 6,057 are in critical conditions.

With further 261 fatalities on Sunday, the death toll rose to 12,279, representing 2.5 percent of the country’s patient tally.

The nation has so far received 35 million COVID-19 vaccine doses from various sources, of which 28,213,392 doses have been administered, with 5,056,325 people fully vaccinated./.
