Phan Huy Anh Vu, director of the provincial Department of Health, on Thursday, Dong Nai recorded 817 new Covid-19 cases, raising the province’s total Covid-19 patient number to over 7,000.

The Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and Industrial Park Management Board have informed the provincial people’s committee that several local firms want to stop their stay-at-work model. Many of the staff want to return home amid the on-going pandemic.

Up to 1,150 companies in Dong Nai have registered for the stay-at-work model with a total of around 136,000 workers staying at their workplaces. However, recently, dozens of companies among those have faced a rise in the number of Covid-19 infections. Two companies have suspended their operations due to Covid-19 infections.

According to the people’s committee, firms need to submit specific reports on their operations to management agencies for consideration. Once approved, they have to provide Covid-19 tests for all of their staff. Workers with negative Covid-19 test results conducted no more than 72 hours previously and received by their local authorities can be allowed to return home.

The same regulations are also applied to companies with Covid-19 patients or those which still use the stay-at-work model.
