As many as 264 cases have already recovered, making up 82% of the total. The 60 active cases are being treated at nine health facilities across the country, with most of them in stable health condition.
Less than 10 patients have once or twice tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease, the ministry said.
The number of quarantined people who had close contact or returned from epidemic hit countries has declined to nearly 8,000. They are now under quarantine at hospitals, health facilities, and places of residence.
No fatalities have been reported in the country so far.
The SARS-CoV-2 virus has attacked 29 provinces and cities across the country since the COVID-19 disease broke out in late January 2020.
Hanoi topped the list of hardest hit localities with 112 cases, followed by Ho Chi Minh City (58), Thai Binh province (29) and Bac Lieu province (21).
Vietnam has entered the ‘new normal’ stage after restrictions were lifted in late April.
