So far, the nation recorded a total of 252 recoveries while the remaining patients are receiving treatment at health facilities across the country, with most of them being in stable health condition.
In addition, 17 out of 36 active cases tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus one or at least twice, while approximately 13,719 people are now under health observation or quarantine at hospitals, other quarantine facilities, at home or at places of residence.
Regarding the 91st British COVID-19 patient, the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases said his lungs are suffering from fibrosis and solidification, with only 10% being functional and he is now totally dependent on Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).
According to health experts from the nation’s leading hospitals, a lung transplant is the only way to try and save the 43-year-old British patient as 90% of his lungs were damaged.
Another severely ill case was the 287th patient who is a 50-year-old woman returning from United Arab Emirates (UAE). She is said to show growing lung damage.
However, the patient recovered from a fever with her blood pressure remaining stable.
To date, Vietnam has reported no deaths from the novel coronavirus.
