COVID-19: Vietnam continues to record no new patient for 8 successive days

Since the first COVID-19 case became known three months ago, Vietnam has recorded no deaths so far, and worthy of note, 224 COVID-19 patients have given the all-clear and were released from hospital.

At present, a total of 68,890 people are under quarantine at hospitals, concentrated quarantine sites, at home or places of residence.

There are now three most severely ill patients, two in Hanoi (patient 19 and patient 161) alongside one patient in HCM City (patient 91). The Patient 19, still needs a ventilator with a tracheostomy tube and stable blood pressure, has damage in the lungs and an irregular heartbeat. The patient can communicate well.

Patient 161 is still on a ventilator through a tracheostomy tube, with normal blood pressure, no fever and slow communication.

Patient 91, who has been treated at the HCM City Hospital for Tropical Diseases, still needed mechanical ventilation and ECMO intervention support.

There are currently 44 COVID-19 patients confirmed from March 7 to April 15 are being isolated for treatment at eight health facilities throughout the nation, including 15 testing negative for SARS-CoV-2 once and two testing twice.

As from April 23, all cities and provinces nationwide began to implement less strict social distancing measures in accordance with the Vietnamese Government’s Directive 15, and the local authorities are given permission to decide which businesses are allowed to open. 

The suburban Me Linh and Thuong Tin districts of Hanoi, HCM City, and the northern provinces of Ha Giang and Bac Ninh are being put in the medium-risk group and the remainders were classified as low-risk.
