(ĐN)- Some 2,000 children under 16 years old in Dong Nai received free examinations for congenital heart disease under the programme “Trai tim cho em” (Healthy heart operation).
Accordingly, poor children found suffering from heart disease can apply for free surgery under the programme.
The service was jointly conducted by the military-run telecom Viettel, the Vietnamese Heart Fund of the Vietnam Television and doctors from from HCM city University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Hoa Hiep of the provincial Peole’s Committee thanked the organizers and General Director Tran Thi Cam Nhung of Golf Long Thanh who donated VND50 billion for the program.
Over the past 11 years, the program provided free heart check-ups to more than 125,000 children in 43 cities and provinces. More than 5,000 were found to have the diseases and got help for treatment.
