About 707 new HIV cases discovered in 11 months

(ĐN) – A meeting was held in Dong Nai on November 29 to respond to the to the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control and the 2018 World AIDS Day (December 1).

Since the beginning of this year, the province reported 707 people newly infected with HIV. Currently, some 4,600 cases of HIV infection are under management. Accordingly, 3,762 people being treated with antiretroviral (ARV) drug.

The province’s health sector is now making efforts to focus on achieving the 90 – 90 – 90 targets by 2020 to end HIV/AIDS in Vietnam by 2030.

Particularly, the sector launched awareness campaigns across the province with hundreds of articles featuring HIV diagnosis and treatment towards the goal of diagnosing 90 percent of all HIV-positive persons, providing antiretroviral (ARV) therapy for 90 percent of those diagnosed and achieving viral suppression for 90 percent of those treated by 2020, thus eliminating AIDS by 2030 and using health insurance for HIV patients.
