(ĐN) - On November 16, the provincial Steering Committee for HIV/AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control held a meeting in respond to the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control 2018.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Hoa Hiep of the provincial People’s Committee called agencies, organizations and individuals to join hands in participating in HIV/AIDS prevention activities, raise awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention and control and the interest of early HIV testing among people from all walks of life.

Communication activities should be also boosted to raise public awareness of the importance of early anti-retroviral (ARV) treatment for people with HIV as well as provide information on ARV distribution locations, said Hiep.

Currently, Dong Nai has nearly 6,000 people living with HIV/AIDS. Of whom, more than 4,400 are still alive and under management.

The province is striving to complete the 90-90-90 target by 2020, with 90 percent of people living with HIV knowing their conditions, 90 percent receiving antiretroviral (ARV) treatment and 90 percent of those taking ARV therapy having viral suppression.
