In the first six months of this year, total number of children born in Dong Nai was more than 18,700, decreasing by 718 children in comparison with the same period in 2017, of which the number of newborn boys was more than 9,800 while the number of newborn girls was over 8,900.
The province reported the sex ratio of 111 boys to 100 girls. Accordingly, over 1,300 were third children.
Dong Nai plans to introduce contraceptive methods to nearly 119,000 cases in 2018.
In her remarks, Deputy Director Huynh Cao Hai of DoH suggested relevant departments and agencies continue to pay due attention to population-family planning issues, promote communications on reproductive healthcare as well as improve the gender imbalance at birth.
