Some 6,000 young doctors will join hands to provide free-of-charge health check-ups and medicines for people in 63 cities and provinces from May 12-19.
These activities are included in the annual festival of young doctors held by the Vietnam Youth Federation and the Association of Vietnam’s Young Doctors, heard a press conference in Hanoi on May 7.
Besides, the doctors will conduct free eye operations for the elderly and surgeries for children with congenital abnormalities, provide first-aid training for teachers and present gifts to needy people and water filters to pre-schools in disadvantaged areas.
The organisation board is expected to collect 13,000 units of blood during the festival.
A national ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Quang Trung Museum in Tay Son district, the central province of Binh Dinh on May 19.
The festival, the tenth of its kind, is hoped to benefit nearly 200,000 people across the country.
