(ĐN) - Dong Nai have reported declines in dengue fever cases in the past four weeks, according to the provincial Preventive Medicine Centre.
In September, a 30 percent decrease in cases was seen, with over 600 cases and no fatalities reported. The fall is the result of efforts made by the province and agencies involved.
However, there is still a risk that infections will pick up as the disease often broke at this point in previous years.
According to the centre, Dong Nai has recorded more than 4,400 cases of dengue fever in Jan-Sept period, with some 4,000 people hospitalized and 3 killed.
Compared with the same period last year, the number of hospitalizations rose by 46.2 percent, while the number of fatalities increased by 1 case.
In the remaining months of the year, the province will continue providing local residents with updates on the fever, spraying chemical substances to kill mosquitoes in areas of outbreaks.
