(ĐN)- The fifth methadone clinic to treat intravenous drug users was opened on August 2 at Trang Bom district’s Health Centre.
The center is expected to provide methadone treatment for more than 200 drug users in the district.
Currently, more than 1,200 people who had drug addictions have been treated with methadone at six clinics across the province.
Proper doses of methadone under the supervision of medical staff can help patients reduce the harmful effects of heroin, prevent HIV transmission via injection, and decrease the number of deaths due to drug shock.The therapy also helps improve patients' health and living quality significantly.
