(ĐN)- Dengue fever cases are on the rise in Dong Nai, as weather has been favourable to the development of infected mosquitoes, said Director Bach Thai Binh of Dong Nai Preventive Medicine Centre.

Statistics showed that more than 2,800 cases of dengue fever were recorded in the province by the end of July.

Of these, patients receiving treatment at hospitals increased 14.4 percent and two persons has reportedly died in Trang Bom and Nhon Trach districts.

Bien Hoa city and districts of Nhon Trach, Thong Nhat, Trang Bom and Cam My have reported the highest number of dengue cases.

The number of dengue-infected patients tends to rise from mid of May and forecasted to increase rapidly until the end of this year. The weather turns to more dangerous with more heat waves and heavy rains, creating optimal conditions for mosquitoes to reproduce.

The center suggested local medical units to strengthen the implementation of measures to prevent the disease, particularly providing information on the epidemic situation to locals and guiding them on how to prevent the disease.
