(ĐN)- According to Dong Nai HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Center, at least 1,200 drug addicts have been treated with methadone in the first quarter of this year. Methadone is used as a pain reliever in drug-addiction detoxification and maintenance programmes.
The existing methadone treatment centres are located in Bien Hoa city, Long Thanh district and Long Khanh town.
The province plans to set up two more methadone treatment facilities in Dinh Quan and Trang Bom districts in 2017.
In the coming time, the province will continue to organize training courses for treatment centres and raise public awareness of methadone treatments for drug addiction.
