Dong Nai to promote prenatal screening to improve population quality

Over the past time, the province’s health sector has made efforts to help raise the awareness of the importance of prenatal and newborn screening among localities, healthcare workers and residents alike.

In 2016, Dong Nai reached a prenatal screening rate of more than 61 percent and the rate of newborn screening of nearly 49%, exceeding the targets set by the Central of 9% and 14%, respectively. It aims to control diseases and medical conditions like Down syndrome and thalassaemia, help infants to benefit from newborn screening.
