Efforts to expand health insurance coverage to HIV patients

(ĐN)- A meeting was held on December 28 to review the implementation of HIV/AIDS prevention program in 2016 and deploy tasks for 2017.

Accordingly, Dong Nai will continue measures to expand health insurance coverage to more HIV/AIDS patients, strive to increase the number of drug addicts accessing methadone treatment, enhance public access to HIV-testing services.

Dong Nai diagnosed 250 new HIV infections in 2016, 152 developed full-blown AIDS while 18 others have died.

The province has so far had over 7,400 people living with HIV and more than 2,300 HIV carriers have died. Accordingly, over 2,600 people living with HIV across the province are currently being treated with antiretroviral (ARV) drug as a result of the on-going effective HIV/AIDS prevention and control programme in Dong Nai
