(ĐN)- Dong Nai’s health insurance is expected to cover 90.7 percent of the population by 2020, as determined at a meeting presided over by Chairman Dinh Quoc Thai of the provincial People’s Committee on August 18, tasking the provincial districts, Long Khanh town and Bien Hoa city to implement the target.
So far, as much as 74 percent of the population, equivalent to over 2 million people, has been covered by health insurance. Several localities with low coverage rates included Tan Phu (55 percent), Xuan Loc (57 percent), Thong Nhat (58 percent), Cam My (59 percent) and Dịnh Quan (63 percent).
The Chairman ordered the localities and relevant units to map out plans to realise the set targets in line with the respective local situations.
To reach the goal, the province needs to carry out further measures, including drawing out policies and incentives in accordance with specific localities.
Administrative procedures to grant insurance cards should be simplified to encourage people to sign up for insurance.
The leader also asked all hospitals to improve healthcare services and treatment procedures to encourage people to buy health insurance.
