(ĐN)- An annual programme to eradicate HIV transmitted from mothers to children is in full swing this June.

Accordingly, a communication campaign is set to feature daily radio broadcasts on the benefit of using antiretroviral drugs (ARV) in early pregnancy for women who have contracted HIV, as well as information on ARV distribution locations.

According to Dong Nai HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Center, the province has made proper care and treatment to decrease the number of HIV-infected children from 37 in 2013 to 28 in 2015.

Dong Nai has set the target of providing preventive treatment for all pregnant women who test positive for HIV in order to reduce the rate of mother-to-child HIV transmission.

In the first five months of this year, around 13,855 pregnant women had received HIV tests. Accordingly, 4 babies born to mothers with HIV have been provided preventive treatment within two months after birth.
