The Ministry of Health of Vietnam has decided to establish eight inspection teams to prevent the Zika virus in 16 provinces and cities across the country, including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang, Thua Thien - Hue, Binh Dinh, Binh Thuan, Dak Lak, Kontum, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and An Giang.

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam has decided to establish eight inspection teams to prevent the Zika virus in 16 provinces and cities across the country, including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang, Thua Thien - Hue, Binh Dinh, Binh Thuan, Dak Lak, Kontum, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and An Giang.
In April, these inspection teams will concentrate on the provinces and cities having high risk of the Zika virus infection to take more samples for test.
In order to actively deal with the suspected areas by Zika virus, the Ministry of Health asked leaders of People’s Committee of provinces, health departments and relevant agencies must monitor, take samples for test and implement the Zika virus prevention measures.
Besides, the Ministry of Health also required the functional units and medical centers to monitor cases of Zika virus causing small heads in newborns through ultrasound scan system and establish a hotline to receive and provide any information related to Zika virus disease.
At present, the country has 11 medical centers which can test and find cases of the Zika virus, including leading three centers such as the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Pasteur Institutes in Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang in the central province of Khanh Hoa.
