According to the department, prevention measures are extremely necessary because the possibility of MERS-Cov entering the province is high given that the disease is able to be spread through human contact.
The MERS-CoV has been spread from the Middle East to some countries in Asia, including Philippines, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea and China, and no vaccine or medicine has been found to cure the disease.
To prevent the disease, local health sector is asked to raise public awareness of the epidemic and its danger, prepare medicine to prevent the virus from spreading to the locality. It is necessary to put in place plans on receiving and treating patients and supervising affected cases to prevent the spread of the disease in the locality.
The sector is also required to update instructions and professional documents in the field and provide medical staff with training courses on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of MERS-CoV.
The department also underlined the need to launch communication campaigns calling on people to avoid travel to affected areas and raise public awareness of the importance of regular hand-washing by soap and other hygiene practices to prevent the spread of the disease.
