(ĐN)- Dong Nai-based Thong Nhat General Hospital’s doctors successfully reconnected the left leg of a 55-year-old patient Nguyen Ngoc Thanh living in Vinh Cuu district in a five-hour surgery.

Earlier, on February 28, the man had the end of his leg cut off completely by a fan of a grass cutting machine while he was cutting grass. He was taken to the hospital in a blood loss situation.

To rejoin the severed leg, doctors performed microsurgery, a form of plastic surgery in which they reconnect bone, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels.

The patient has recovered and can already move the toes slightly.
