A ceremony was held at Oxford University on October 17 to confer the Visiting Professor of Epidemiology title on Vietnamese Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien.
A ceremony was held at Oxford University on October 17 to confer the Visiting Professor of Epidemiology title on Vietnamese Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien.
Nguyen Thi Kim Tien is the first Vietnamese to have received the honorary title after five other professors in the world.
At the ceremony, Professor Andrew Hamilton from Oxford University emphasized that the conferment is in recognition of Minister Tien’s important contribution to improving scientific research cooperation since the time she was Director of HCM City Pasteur Institute, as well as her teaching and research work at the Nuffield Department of Medicine over the past three years since July 1, 2013.
Being Minister of Health, Ms Tien has attached importance to expansion of international cooperation and scientific research as well as providing training for cadres with Oxford University, other universities and international health centres in the world.
Professor Andrew Hamilton added that the conferment marks the growing UK-Vietnam cooperation on the occasion of 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
