In the face of the penetration of influenza A/H7N9 virus, it is estimated that Viet Nam needs over US$120 million to finance preventive activities, according to officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Health.

The figure was released at the conference held in Ha Noi on May 6 to mobilize resources from foreign Governments and international organizations for the country to cope with the risk of the deadly virus outbreak.
Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long affirmed that no A/H7N9 case has been reported in Viet Nam. However, the country deeply concerned about the risk of A/H7N9 spreading as the country shares a long borderline with China.
Viet Nam is preparing preventive measures, including medical equipment and facilities as well as human resources for the fight against this new dangerous type of virus, Long added.
At the conference, the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international organizations said they are willing to help Viet Nam prevent and control avian influenza A/H7N9./.
