Since the beginning of this year, Dong Nai recorded 2,163 cases of HFMD with 1 deaths, a year-on-year increase of 65%.
Notably, Enterovirus 71 (EV71), one of the major causative agents for HFMD, is sometimes associated with severe central nervous system diseases and can cause death within 24 hours of infection.
