(ĐN)- On August 1, a delegation led by Deputy Director of the Health Ministry's Preventive Medicine Department Tran Thanh Duong had a working visit to Dong Nai on preventing and controling the outbreak of dengue fever and hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) in the province.
The number of HFMD and dengue fever cases is rapidly increasing in the province, threatening to assume epidemic proportions.
As end of July, Dong Nai recorded 2,272 dengue fever cases, including 5 deaths, up 25 percent against the same period last year.
Meanwhile, 2,295 cases of HFMD with 3 deaths was confirmed in this period, a reduction of 700 cases year-on-year. However, HFMD is also trending to spread.
At the working session, Duong suggested the Pasteur Institute and Institute of Hygiene and Public Health to offer special support to help the province’s health sector stamp out the epidemic effectively.
