(ĐN)- Up to 32 people died from infectious diseases last year, a sharp increase over previous years, the province’s health sector said last week.
Hand-foot-mouth disease and dengue fever led the list of fatalities, the sector told a conference on prevention and control.
A total of 7,492 cases of hand-foot-mouth disease with 26 deaths and 5,111 petechial fever patients with five deaths were confirmed in 2011, nine-fold and five-fold increases, respectively in comparison with 2010. Besides, 410 malaria cases were also reported in Dong Nai last year
Infectious diseases were on the rise in the province. Accordingly, Dong Nai Department of Health will launch action plans to fight the spread of the diseases in the coming time.
