(ĐN)- With the number of hand-foot-and-mouth (HFMD) infections rising, Dong Nai will launch a campaign on April 27 to raise public awareness.

The campaign aims to raise public awareness on preventive measures to control outbreak of the disease through television and radio broadcasts, newspaper announcements and brochures delivered to households.

Medical personnel will also work with kindergartens and schools in the province to encourage teachers and students to maintain hygiene.

By the middle of April 12, a total of 908 cases of hand-foot-mouth disease were reported in Dong Nai, two of them fatal.

Because there is no vaccine or antiviral agent available, following good hygiene practices such as washing hands regularly and disinfecting surrounding areas are the best ways to prevent the disease from spreading.
