(ĐN)- Thanks to the health sector’s efforts, the number of newly-infected HIV cases in Dong Nai reduced from 500 to 300 in 2011.

(ĐN)- Thanks to the health sector’s efforts, the number of newly-infected HIV cases in Dong Nai reduced from 500 to 300 in 2011. It is estimated that 5,846 people are living with HIV in the province presently, 2,239 of whom have developed full-blown AIDS and 1,421 have died of the disease so far.

Along with information dissemination campaigns, many healthcare centers for HIV patients have been built in the province to provide HIV tests and medical checkup services.

In the coming time, the province will focus on promoting information dissemination, public awareness and behavior change in the community. Besides, the province will build plans to ensure the implementation of projects on combating HIV/AIDS, drug addition and prostitution under the National HIV/AIDS Prevention Program.
