(ĐN)- A new additional outpatient clinic (OPC) for people living with HIV/AIDS has recently been put into operation in Dong Nai province, bringing the total number of OPC in the province to 5, according to the provincial HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Centre. The new clinic is located at Long Thanh district’s Medical Center.
In Long Thanh district alone, the total number of people infected with HIV in the district has reached 516 so far. The number of HIV-AIDS sufferers in Long Thanh district is currently ranked third in Dong Nai province, after Bien Hoa city and Long Khanh town.
The clinic, funded through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the US Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), provides a comprehensive package of services, including preventive methods, volunteer counseling and medical testing, sexually transmitted disease diagnosis, anti-retroviral treatment, and home-based care to people living with HIV/AIDS in the province.
