Infectious diseases on the rise in Dong Nai

A total of nearly 1,800 cases of dengue fever with five deaths have been reported across Dong Nai province since the beginning of this year, according to the Provincial Preventive Medicine Centre.

The Centre has launched a mosquito control campaign in the province. Medical staff of the centre has sprayed chemicals in Vinh Cuu district’s Thanh Phu commune, Long Khanh town’s Suoi Tre commune, Long Thanh district’s Tam An commune, Thong Nhat district’s Xuan Thanh commune where have been hit hard by the disease in order to kill the mosquitoes and mosquito larva and reduce the risk of dengue fever. The centre will continue to spray chemicals in the two districts of Cam My and Long Thanh in the coming time.

The Centre has also supplied over 11 tons of Chloramine B for disinfection in kindergartens across the province. It plans to provide Chloramine B for families with children under age six in the coming time.
Aside from dengue fever, Dong Nai also faces threats of other infectious diseases including hand, foot, mouth disease. More than 700 children have infected with the disease since the beginning of the year with 13 children dead.

In Long Khanh town, 15 cases of hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) and 21 cases of dengue fever were reported last week, according a report from the town’s Medical Center. The high number of cases reported from the five communes of Xuan Thanh, Xuan Trung, Xuan An, Suoi Tre and Bau Sen.
