(ĐN)- The Dong Nai Preventive Health Centre has reported a fifth dengue fever death in the province. The 11-year- old boy victim was from Thach Phu commune, Vinh Cuu district.
The 11-year- old boy victim was from Thach Phu commune, Vinh Cuu district. The boy died in the Dong Nai Paediatrics Hospital on July 10, two days after being hospitalised.
1,447 dengue cases with five deaths have been confirmed in the province since the beginning of this year.
The Vinh Cuu district Medical Centre said the epidemic is complicated and Thanh Phu commune has been hit hard by the disease. A total of 28 cases was reported in Thanh Phu commune in the first half of this year.
Health authorities in the province and Vinh Cuu district have launched a mosquito control campaign in the district. Accordingly, medical staff in the district has sprayed chemicals in the affected areas in order to kill the mosquitoes and mosquito larva and reduce the risk of dengue fever.
