Many targets exceed plan
According to the Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT), many targets for trade and industrial development in the province exceeded the 2025 plan and outpaced the national average. In particular, the Provincial Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in 2025 is estimated to have increased by more than 15.2 percent compared with 2024. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in 2025 are estimated at over VND 465.8 trillion, up more than 18.6 percent year on year. Notably, export–import activities posted breakthrough growth, emerging as a bright spot in the local economy over the past year.
According to Member of the Provincial Party Committee (PPC) and Director of the DoIT Vu Ngoc Long, one of the key factors behind Dong Nai’s breakthrough growth in 2025 was the accelerated progress and synchronized development of industrial, trade, logistics and energy infrastructure, with the trade and industrial sector playing a core role in advising and organizing implementation.
In the industrial sector, development space has continued to expand and be restructured toward modernity and sustainability. The province currently has 58 industrial parks with a total area of nearly 22,000 hectares, of which 43 are operating effectively, along with 63 industrial clusters under planning. Many industrial parks and clusters have invested in completing technical infrastructure and centralized wastewater treatment systems, gradually meeting the requirements for green and eco-industrial development.
In the fields of trade, services and logistics, the province’s logistics infrastructure has seen clear progress. The system of inland container depots (ICDs), dry ports and river ports such as ICD Tan Cang – Nhon Trach, ICD Long Binh and ICD Dong Nai Port, together with the Phuoc An Port logistics service area, are operating effectively. These facilities help connect road, waterway and seaport transport, shorten circulation time and reduce logistics costs for businesses. Trade infrastructure has been gradually modernized, with networks of markets, supermarkets, commercial centers and large-scale trade projects receiving investment attention, meeting the increasingly high demand of residents and enterprises.
In addition, trade and industrial activities in the province have made strong efforts in digital transformation, laying the groundwork for the development of the digital economy and the promotion of e-commerce. At the same time, the application of technology in production, business and consumption has been promoted, contributing to green growth.
Nguyen Duy Hung, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Logistics Association, said that Dong Nai is not merely an industrial province but is rising to become the “logistics heart” of the Southern key economic region. With stable GRDP growth and a continuous inflow of FDI into industrial parks, the demand for an intelligent and synchronized logistics service system is a decisive factor in retaining investors and boosting exports.
According to the DoIT, in 2025, the province’s export turnover recorded double-digit growth, supported by the positive recovery of key export product groups. Total export value for the year is estimated at USD 34.64 billion, up 16.23 percent from 2024. Import turnover is estimated at USD 23.89 billion, up 14.25 percent, ensuring raw material supply for production. The trade balance continued to post a large surplus of USD 10.7 billion, contributing positively to the national trade balance.
Maintaining growth momentum
Vu Ngoc Long added that in 2026, Dong Nai’s trade and industry sector has identified industrial, trade and service development as its core focus. Accordingly, the department will advise on the issuance and implementation of the Industrial Development Program and the Industrial Cluster Development Plan for the 2026–2030 period; complete mechanisms, policies and management regulations for industrial clusters; and promote the formation of concentrated industrial zones in the South and industrial–urban zones in the North, creating new growth poles for the province. Moreover, it will promote pilot implementation and replication of eco-industrial cluster models; effectively implement Power Development Plan VIII; and accelerate investment in synchronized power grid infrastructure.
The trade and industry sector will coordinate with relevant departments, sectors and localities to promote investment in large-scale logistics centers associated with seaports, Long Thanh Airport, ICD systems, border gates and interregional transport corridors. It will also develop wholesale markets and modern commercial centers linked with digital transformation and e-commerce, thereby expanding market space for enterprises.
Nguyen Tran Quoc Anh, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Import–Export Association, shared that in the coming period, local import–export enterprises expect the provincial industry and trade sector to continue implementing appropriate support programs to help businesses apply digital technologies in production management, logistics and import–export operations; access energy-saving and emission-reduction solutions; and meet environmental standards of international markets. Furthermore, greater attention should be paid to training and developing technical and high-quality management human resources to meet the requirements of digital and green transitions.
In his directive remarks at the Conference on the implementation of tasks of Dong Nai’s trade and industry sector in 2026, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee Nguyen Kim Long emphasized that in 2026 the sector needs to focus intensively on several key tasks, projects and work groups. These include developing industry in a more in-depth, modern and sustainable manner; accelerating the development of trade, service and logistics infrastructure; ensuring energy security and promoting the transition toward green energy. At the same time, the sector should continue administrative reform, enhance the effectiveness of state management and the quality of services for enterprises, and improve the quality of advisory, forecasting and inter-sectoral coordination work.
