In the spirit of “Solidarity – Democracy – Discipline – Breakthrough – Development,” the 1st Congress of Tho Son Commune Party Committee for the 2025-2030 tenure officially convened on the afternoon of August 14. Attending were Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Council Tran Van Mi; representatives from provincial departments and agencies; and 139 official delegates representing 565 Party members from 31 affiliated Party cells and committees.
Tho Son Commune was established through the merger of three former communes: Tho Son, Phu Son, and Dong Nai. The commune now covers a natural area of over 307 square kilometers, with a population of 20,000, nearly 48% of whom are ethnic minorities. Over the past tenure, amid a mix of opportunities and challenges, the commune’s Party Committee demonstrated unity and determination, achieving and surpassing most targets set by the previous congress resolution.

In the 2025-2030 tenure, with the goal of making economic development a central task, Party building a key factor, defense and security a regular mission, and people the main subject of development, the commune Party Committee has set out 16 key targets along with three major breakthrough programs. Among these is a plan to boost eco-community tourism based on cultural heritage and natural landscapes.
The commune will focus on developing the Eco-cluster Tourism Development Project for Bu Lach, including the grasslands, Voi Waterfall, the lake and diversion pipeline of the Dak Ka Hydropower Plant, and the upper Dong Nai River ecosystem. It will create distinctive tourism products such as cultural experiences at traditional brocade weaving villages, combined with nature exploration and organic fruit orchard visits. Investment priority will be given to tourism infrastructure to ensure connectivity between attractions, while encouraging investment in locally inspired lodging facilities and dining services.

In his remarks at the congress, the Dong Nai provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Tran Van Mi affirmed that Tho Son was once a strategically important area during the resistance war against the U.S. imperialism, serving as the site of numerous revolutionary activities, sheltering cadres, and safeguarding communication routes from the southeastern region to the Central Highlands. Generations of cadres, Party members, and residents made great contributions and sacrifices for the cause of national liberation.
Appreciating the locality’s orientations, goals, tasks, and breakthrough areas, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Council Tran Van Mi noted that, in the coming time, the commune should proactively coordinate closely with provincial-level agencies to advise and propose that central ministries and sectors consider and adjust the bauxite mineral planning so as to focus on building essential social infrastructure works. It should continue to effectively carry out site clearance and compensation for provincial projects and works passing through the commune, particularly the Gia Nghia – Chon Thanh Expressway project.

Suggesting economic development solutions, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Council Tran Van Mi emphasized that the commune should prioritize eco-tourism development; strengthen linkages in agricultural production and consumption; build planting area codes and brands; and continue improving OCOP product quality. Efforts should be made to promote production, processing, and export of high-value local products such as cashew, coffee, and durian, leveraging transport advantages like the Gia Nghia – Chon Thanh Expressway and National Highway 14. Step by step, this will help Tho Son achieve comprehensive and sustainable growth, improve living standards, getting ready to join Dong Nai Province and the rest of the nation in entering a new era.
