On August 21, the Dong Nai Department of Health (DoH), together with relevant departments and agencies, held a working session with the National Action Center for Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment, the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, and CRS Organization on a project to support the improvement of the quality of life of disabled people in provinces heavily sprayed with Agent Orange.

The project is overseen by the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam, with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project will be implemented in all communes and wards across Dong Nai province. In 2026, the total budget for the project will exceed US$ 4 million (equivalent to over VND 100.6 billion).
The project aims to improve the quality of life for disabled people in Dong Nai, addressing issues such as healthcare, rehabilitation, expansion of social services, support for social integration, and improving public attitudes toward people with disabilities.
It is expected that in 2026, more than 4,300 disabled people (including children with disabilities, those affected by Agent Orange/dioxin, and their family members) will benefit from the project. In addition, the project will provide training to enhance the professional capacity of medical staff and family caregivers involved.
At the working session, stakeholders agreed on the project implementation plan. Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the DoH, requested that relevant units pay attention to training rehabilitation personnel and increasing the frequency of health screenings for people with disabilities.
He also recommended that the project continue to support medical equipment, rehabilitation devices, and tools for hospitals and health centers across Dong Nai to better serve the healthcare needs of disabled people and facilitate their social integration.
