In the run-up to the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese Foreign sector (August 28, 1945 – 2025), and in a bid to promote revolutionary tradition education for the younger generation, on August 16-17, a working delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) coordinated with the Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee to organize the “Back to the roots” program in Dong Nai province.
The Dong Nai Department of Foreign Affairs (DoFA) was assigned by the provincial People’s Committee to host the working delegation and jointly organize activities in the province.
The program was organized to foster national pride and enhance the understanding of officials, Youth Union members, and youth of the foreign affairs sector about the nation’s heroic revolutionary struggle in general, and the formation and development history of the Vietnamese Foreign affairs sector in particular. Through this, each Youth Union member and young person will appreciate the tradition more deeply, continuously hone political resolve, improve professional skills, and be prepared to contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new era.

Within the framework of the program, the working delegation visited the Giao Te House – headquarters of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam, which once served as a reception site for both domestic and foreign diplomatic delegations from 1973 until the complete liberation of the South. This is a significant historical site, closely associated with the diplomatic work of Vietnamese revolution during the resistance war against the U.S. imperialism.

In addition, the delegation organized incense offerings at the provincial Martyrs’ Cemetery and visited the Ta Thiet National Special Relic - the Command Headquarters for the Liberation Army of South Vietnam, a site that bears witness to the heroic pages of the national liberation struggle. These activities carry profound educational meaning, helping the younger generation of the Foreign affairs sector internalize the value of independence, freedom, and the aspiration for peace for which previous generations sacrificed.

Notably, the working delegation also visited Bu Gia Map Border Guard Station and toured Bu Gia Map National Park, where officers and soldiers work day and night to guard the Fatherland’s borders, protect the peace of the people, and preserve the country’s precious ecological environment.
At this site, the Youth Union members and young people of the Foreign affairs sector engaged in exchanges and learned about border management and protection work, while raising their sense of responsibility for national defense and sustainable development.

Promoting the spirit of “When drinking water, remember its source,” the “Back to the roots” program is not only an occasion to review tradition but also affirms the determination of the young of the Foreign affairs sector to inherit and build upon the significant achievements the sector has attained over the past 80 years. This is also a significant activity that contributes to enriching the events in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese Foreign affairs sector.
