Dong Nai strives to complete Long Thanh airport project items

(ĐN) – On August 2, at a working session with the Government delegation led by Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the progress of phase 1 of the Long Thanh International Airport project, Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, said the province is making efforts to meet the assigned project deadlines.

In particular, regarding the jet fuel pipeline project from the source port to the boundary of Long Thanh airport, Dong Nai is working to accelerate investor selection. The province aims to complete the pipeline project in synchronization with the airport by December 19, 2025. Therefore, Dong Nai has requested the Prime Minister to approve a special mechanism for selecting the investor.

At the same time, for projects related to the airport city, aviation industrial zone, and airline operation center, Dong Nai has sent official requests to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), asking for planning documents and maps related to Long Thanh airport. The province also called on the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction to instruct the CAAV to promptly provide the necessary documents.

Additionally, Chairman Vo Tan Duc noted that the province has finalized a draft proposal for a free trade zone linked to Long Thanh airport and is working with the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to gather feedback before submitting it to the National Assembly and the Government for consideration.

Therefore, Dong Nai has proposed that the MoF complete its review and that the Prime Minister approve the establishment of the Dong Nai Free Trade Zone to facilitate the next steps of implementation.

For component projects under Dong Nai's management, the Long Thanh Airport Police Station project, which began construction in October 2024 with a total investment of over VND 43 billion, has so far reached around 40% completion compared to the signed contract value. The project is expected to be completed in October 2025.

Meanwhile, for the International Health Quarantine Station project, the Dong Nai People's Committee has instructed the Department of Finance to consult relevant agencies for appraisal. The investment approval decision is anticipated in August 2025.
