Petrovietnam presents VND 4 billion STEM education practice room at Dong Nai

On the afternoon of January 7, at Thong Nhat A High School, Trang Bom commune, Dong Nai province, Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group (Petrovietnam) held an inauguration ceremony for the STEM education practice room under its STEM Innovation Petrovietnam programme. The room is built at a cost of more than VND 4 billion

The ceremony was attended by Tran Quang Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of Petrovietnam’s Party Committee; Phan Ngoc Hien, Deputy General Director of PetroVietnam Power Corporation; and Tran Ngoc Thang, Deputy Director of the Dong Nai Department of Education and Training, as well as representatives of local authorities, the school leadership, and many teachers and students.

Speaking at the ceremony, teacher Bach Thanh Lua, Principal of Thong Nhat A High School, stated that since 2017, the school has focused on building a foundation for student scientific research through the establishment of the High School Science Incubation Club, contributing to the maintenance and growth of the school-wide scientific research movement. From the 2020–2021 to the 2024–2025 academic years, the school has organized five STEM festivals and implemented 170 STEM topics and lessons across various subjects, while also sustaining its scientific research movement with 57 student science and engineering projects submitted to school-level competitions. As a result, many outstanding projects have been selected to compete in provincial and national science, technology, and innovation contests for teenagers and children.

The official inauguration of the STEM education practice room is a vivid testament to the effective partnership between the school and the enterprise, reflecting Petrovietnam's commitment to social responsibility in the cause of education. More than just a physical facility, the STEM room is a creative learning space that opens up new opportunities for teachers and students to engage in experiential learning, scientific research, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The school leadership has pledged to utilize the STEM practice room effectively, in alignment with the school's educational plan, to enhance teacher capacity and develop suitable teaching themes and learning projects. This effort is expected to contribute to improving the overall quality of education and meeting the expectations of both the education sector and the sponsor.

Tran Quang Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Petrovietnam, stated that the STEM Innovation Petrovietnam programme is being implemented with 100 internationally standardized STEM education practice rooms across 34 provinces and cities nationwide. This initiative is the largest education project ever undertaken by a state-owned enterprise, representing a nationally strategic step in developing human resources in science and technology, and reflecting the company’s concrete commitment to education. In addition to the STEM education practice room at Thong Nhat A High School, Petrovietnam will donate two more rooms to Dong Nai Province.

On this occasion, Petrovietnam also presented 30 scholarships, each worth VND 3 million, to students of Thong Nhat A High School.
