On the afternoon of November 7, Vietnam’s No. 1 female player, Nguyen Thuy Linh (World No. 24, 2nd seed), took to the court in the women’s singles quarterfinals of the 2025 Korea Masters to face the host player Lee So Yul (World No. 110).”
In the first game, Thuy Linh asserted her dominance with sharp shuttle control, consistently pulling ahead of Lee So Yul before sealing a 21-12 victory.
The drama unfolded in the second game, where the 22-year-old South Korean host player mounted a strong comeback, creating a tense, point-for-point battle with the Vietnamese shuttler. Lee So Yul went on an impressive scoring run to lead 17-12, then reached set point at 20-16, holding four opportunities to close the game.
In this high-pressure moment, the Dong Nai player staged a remarkable turnaround, saving all four set points to level the score at 20-20, then fended off another set point before completing a stunning 23-21 comeback victory.
After 36 minutes of competition, Thuy Linh defeated Lee So Yul in straight sets to secure a spot in the semifinals of the women’s singles event at the 2025 Korea Masters.
In the semifinals scheduled for tomorrow (November 8), she will face the winner of the quarterfinal clash between Pitchamon Opatniputh (Thailand, World No. 37) and Hina Akechi (Japan, World No. 57).
