Dong Nai ranks third overall at 2nd National Stick-Pushing Cup

The Dong Nai stick pushing team delivered an excellent performance, finishing third overall at the 2nd National Stick-Pushing Cup 2025, which recently concluded in Thai Nguyen.

On November 2, the 2nd National Stick-Pushing Cup 2025, organized by the Sports Authority of Vietnam (Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism) in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province, concluded at the Thai Nguyen Provincial Sports Arena.

The 2nd National Stick-Pushing Cup 2025 took place from October 26 to November 2, attracting the participation of 181 athletes from 12 provinces, cities, and sectors nationwide, including Dong Nai. The athletes competed in 26 weight categories: 14 men's weight categories and 12 women's weight categories.

Competing in 12 weight categories, the athletes of the Dong Nai stick pushing team excellently won medals in 10 weight categories with 6 gold medals (GMs), 3 silver medals (SMs), and 1 bronze medal (BM).

The six athletes who secured gold medals for Dong Nai include: Tran Thi Ngoc Hang (women's 45kg), Bui Thi Ngoc Mai (women's 51kg), Vo Thi My Huyen (women's 72kg), Pham Phu Qui (men's 48kg), Nguyen Quang Nhat (men's 60kg), and Nguyen Trung Lam (men's 80kg). The three silver medals went to: Nguyen Thanh Quy (men's 63kg), Tang Tan Nguyen (men's 66kg), and Nguu Thi Quynh Nhi (women's 69kg). Pham Minh Tuan claimed the remaining bronze medal in the men's 54kg.

With the above achievement, the Dong Nai stick pushing team ranked third overall, exceeding the target of 1 GM set before the tournament, as they also achieved 6 GMs but had fewer SMs than other delegations.

 The first-place overall ranking went to host Thai Nguyen with 6 GMs, 7 SMs, 6 BMs, and Bac Ninh (6 GMs, 4 SMs, 7 BMs).

According to the Organizing Board, the tournament aims to help promote the sports training movement in general and stick pushing in particular, thereby preserving and enhancing the nation’s traditional cultural and sports values.
