According to a report from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Dong Nai province currently has 120 officially ranked relic sites and 38 others listed in the inventory. On October 3, 2025, the Provincial People’s Committee issued an official dispatch temporarily assigning responsibility for the management and enhancement of the value of historical and cultural sites, scenic spots, and cultural works across the province.

However, in reality, the management and enhancement of the value of relic sites still face significant challenges. Most agencies, units, and localities lack complete records for the sites, and some have yet to obtain land use rights certificates. At the grassroots level, management teams are understaffed and have limited expertise in conservation and museum work. Many sites also lack dedicated guides, resulting in low effectiveness in both site management and value enhancing.

In addition, several relics across the province are in serious disrepair and require conservation and restoration. Some sites are located in two local jurisdictions or fall under the management of multiple agencies, but no management regulations have been developed for the sites. Funding for urgent repairs, restoration, and routine operations remains limited, and efforts to involve the private sector in relic preservation have not been effective.

Concluding the working session, Le Truong Son, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, tasked the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism with leading and advising the Provincial People’s Committee in establishing an advisory team to manage and enhance the value of relic sites across the province. The department is also expected to review and assess staffing needs for relic management, including guides, ensuring proper allocation and avoiding overlaps with localities. In addition, it should coordinate with the Department of Finance to advise on and allocate funding for urgent repairs, restoration, and the routine operation of relic sites.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee suggested the Dong Nai Museum to set up a support team to monitor the management and enhancement of relic value that have been temporarily assigned to communes and wards. Localities responsible for these sites are required to review all relevant records and documents to ensure that the handover is completed within this November. Any challenges encountered during implementation should be reported to the Provincial People’s Committee by the relevant departments, agencies, units, and localities for guidance and resolution, ensuring that the management, preservation, and enhancement of the relic value are carried out in a consistent and effective manner.
