The Dong Nai men's athletics team continued their winning streak with a gold medal in the 4x800m relay at the National Relay Athletics Championship.

The 2025 National Athletics Relay Championship, held in Quang Ngai, concluded its second day of competition (August 19).

On the afternoon of the second day of competition, the Dong Nai men's athletics team, consisting of 4 athletes: Luong Duc Phuoc, Sam Van Doi, Truong Nhat Linh, Ly Toan Phat Di, entered the final of the men's 4x800m relay event in the championship category.

With national 800m-running champions like Duc Phuoc and Van Doi in the lineup, the Dong Nai men's 4x800m relay team had no rivals, continuing to win and bring Dong Nai its first gold medal at this year's championship with a time of 7 minutes 39 seconds 3, while Hung Yen's team came in second (7:40.8) and Hanoi came in third (7:51.0). This is the second consecutive gold medal in 1 week for this quartet. Previously, on the afternoon of August 13, the 4 athletes, including Duc Phuoc, Van Doi, Nhat Linh, and Phat Di, also excellently won the gold medal in the men's 4x800m event at the 2025 National Athletics Championship held in Da Nang.

On the second day of competition, "King of Speed" Ngan Ngoc Nghia and teammates Hieu, Son, and Huy crossed the finish line first with a time of 1 minute 23.01 seconds, securing a gold medal for the Public Security team. This result is considered a "national record" based on manual timing. The previous record, measured by electronic timing, belonged to the Hanoi team with a time of 1 minute 23.59 seconds, set at the 2024 National Athletics Championship in Dong Nai.

The Ninh Binh women's relay team, featuring SEA Games reigning champion and runner-up in the women's 800m event Nguyen Thu Ha and Bui Thi Ngan, along with rising star Nguyen Khanh Linh, gold medalist in the 1,500m at the Asian Youth Championships, crossed the finish line first with a time of 8 minutes 42.01 seconds, setting a new national record based on manual timing. Previously, the national record for the women's 4x800m relay, measured by international standards using electronic timing, was 8 minutes 48.28 seconds, set by the Hanoi team at the National Championship in Dong Nai in November 2024.

At the end of the second day of competition, with a gold medal in the men's 4x800m relay, Dong Nai joined the group of units with gold medals at this year's championship, temporarily ranking 8th. With one additional gold medal each, Hanoi (3 golds), Tay Ninh (2 golds), and Public Security (2 golds) are currently leading the overall medal standings.

The 2025 National Athletics Relay Championship was held from August 18 to 20 in Quang Ngai, attracting nearly 280 athletes from 21 units. Athletes competed in the men's 4x100m, women's 4x100m, men's 4x200m, women's 4x200m, men's 4x400m, women's 4x400m, men's 4x800m, women's 4x800m, mixed men-women 4x100m and 4x400m relays, mixed 4x800m relay, and various U.23 youth championship relay categories.
