Dong Nai ranks second at 2025 Ta Cu Mountain Climbing Competition

(DN) - At the beginning of the Lunar new year, Dong Nai athletics celebrated a victory by achieving overall second place and the second prize for the men's individual category at the 2025 Ta Cu Mountain Climbing Competition.

On February 4, the 27th Ta Cu Mountain Climbing Competition in Ham Thuan Nam district - Binh Thuan took place in Thuan Nam town. This is one of the activities to celebrate the Party and the Lunar New Year of the Snake, organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan in collaboration with Ham Thuan Nam district.

This year's competition attracted 385 athletes from 52 units across 12 provinces and cities nationwide, including Lam Dong, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, and Binh Thuan.

Athletes from three systems: grassroots, provincial teams, and extended provincial teams participated in events covering distances of 6,300m (4,000m running and 2,300m climbing) for men; 5,300m (3,000m running and 2,300m climbing) for women, competing in 15 individual, team, and overall categories.

At the end of the competition, athlete Le Huu Loc from Dong Nai excelled in securing second place in the men's 6,300m open category for provinces and cities. The first prize and the title of King of the Mountain went to athlete Le Van Tuan (Binh Duong), while third place was taken by Do Duy Thang (Binh Thuan). In addition to the individual title, athlete Le Huu Loc (second place) along with Nguyen Ngoc Quy (sixth place) and Ly Toan Phat Di (eleventh place) helped Dong Nai achieve third place in the men's team category. Binh Duong ranked first and the host Binh Thuan ranked second.

Meanwhile, in the women's open category, athlete Cao Thi Thanh Thuy from Dong Nai was unable to defend her title as Queen of the Mountain, finishing fifth individually. However, this result, along with the ninth place of Truong Hong Uyen and the thirteenth place of Bui Thanh Thao, helped Dong Nai achieve third place in the women's team category. First and second places went to Binh Thuan and Dong Phu, Binh Phuoc. The title of Queen of the Mountain was awarded to Nguyen Thi Thanh Tuyen (Binh Thuan).

With these results, the Dong Nai team secured overall second place, with the first place going to the host Binh Thuan and third place to Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
