Vietnam gets FIFA World Cup 2022 broadcasting rights

Vietnam Television (VTV), a State-owned TV broadcaster in Vietnam, announced on October 26 evening it has secured exclusive broadcasting rights of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Vietnam.

Vietnamese football fans will watch all 64 matches of the FIFA World Cup 2022 on VTV channels.

Accordingly, all 64 matches of the tournament will be broadcast live on channels VTV2, VTV3, VTV5, and VTV Can Tho, as well as through its VTVGo application.

VTV has been licensed to own media rights for all programmes related to the FIFA World Cup 2022 in the territory of Vietnam, including the broadcasting rights on television and radio systems and on mobile and internet platforms, with the over the top (OTT) service included.

VTV refused to disclose the price of the deal, but sources said the national TV broadcaster is likely to spend no less than US$12 million thanks to support of sponsors and partners.

Elsewhere in Southeast Asia, countries such as Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia have all secured the broadcasting rights of the tournament.

The FIFA World Cup 2022 tournament is scheduled to take place from November 20 to December 18 in Qatar.
