Coach Park announces 31-man squad ahead of AFF Cup 2022

Players named in the side include goalkeepers Dang Van Lam, Tran Nguyen Manh, and Nguyen Van Toan, along with defenders Do Duy Manh, Que Ngoc Hai, and Vu Van Thanh. Elsewhere, the midfielders include Nguyen Hoang Duc, Phan Van Duc, and Luong Xuan Truong, whilst the strikers are made up of players such as Nguyen Van Quyet, Pham Tuan Hai, and Nguyen Tien Linh.

Most notably, Nguyen Quang Hai of French side Pau FC has been selected in the squad and will return to Vietnam in the near future.

Several young footballers who competed in the final round of the 2022 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U23 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan in June such as Phan Tuan Tai, Nham Manh Dung, and Luong Duy Cuong were also added to the squad.

Moving forward, the Vietnamese national team will gather in Ho Chi Minh City on September 17 immediately after the conclusion of the 16th round of the Night Wolf V.League 1.

Vietnam will play in an international friendly tournament slated for September 21 to September 27 where they will face Singapore and India. 

Vietnam have been in Group B alongside Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, and Laos at this year's AFF Cup.

In Group A, Thailand will play Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, and the winner of a play-off match between Timor Leste and Brunei.

The cup's new name is the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022, with the tournament scheduled to take place from December 23 this year and running to January 15, 2023.
